Text 27 May 1 note The Olympic Torch in Cardiff

Did you know there is a fire from Greece making it’s way around the UK at the moment - and I’m not on about the recession!

I am of course talking about the Olympic flame. It came through Cardiff the other day down the street where I work. Luckily I was working late so thought I’d hang around to watch it come through. I didn’t even care that I was planning on seeing it by myself.

Luckily - my friend Jade was also loitering around the town so she came and met me.

The craziest thing - There was more security (that we could see anyway) for the torch than there was for the Queen (THE QUEEN) who came only a few weeks ago on her Jubilee tour. There were probably snipers and rockets on the roof our building mind.

Anyway - No one was actually sure when the torch was coming and I took advantage of this and managed a good vantage point right on the barriers.

The torch also has one hell of an entourage - 30 minutes of it actually! The Samsung quad bikers were the best. They gave me inflatable stuffs and flags! I was bouncing. I think Jade got a bit embarrassed. I was joking with the police and the entertainment - it was magical!

Talking of entourage. Let’s have a moment for the unsung hero:

I think he loved his moment in the middle of the cages. There was also a very confident balloon seller was hurried along by a police Land Rover.

We were stood in a very good place as the runner came down Heol Fawr, up toward the Hayes and back to where we were stood to carry on back down St Mary Street.

I’ll be honest, we didn’t know this and it was only because a police bike was parked up next to us that we knew it was coming back our way. We quickly hurried down to the end of St Mary Street and coming back from the Hayes was another runner.

We followed him for all of 50 yards and who was there - Sam Warburton, Wales rugby captain!

How cool is that?!

I was made up. I was so hyped and excited and it does pass you very quickly. So it was nice to savour the rest of the run and seeing three runners over 50 yards! There was an image of Sam running down past the stadium with the sun shining. I know there a cynics about the flame and the Olumpics in general.

It brought more people together in Cardiff that day than the Queen!

I saw similar scenes today from my home town today as well - and there is next to know proper rangabanga spirit there. But, the High Street was packed. It was pretty emotional.

Lastly, I think it helps that when you’re bouncing around like an idiot that you look the part. I know one of my colleagues as averse to people wearing bright trainers with their work clothes, but I have no alternative, and with 100% recovery I’m changing it.

With my bright shoes, comes my bright headphones… With my pink shirt, my rucksack, my flags and my inflatable clapper things. Having difficulty picturing it..? I also looked European on account of me wearing my glasses.

Still having difficulty..?

  1. What does it say on the road?
    block
  2. I will message you privately about this when I can get to a computer that will let me! ;

I believe it says ‘Lon Fysiau’ - which is of course ‘Lane and Bus (with a handy mutation in there from ‘B’ to ‘F’ - Just like a European language.

I did read a quote however -

Welsh is the only language that one learns in order to speak to less people

So I wouldn’t worry too much about it - I don’t think we’re planning on invading England yet and forcing our language to you. :)

Secondly - That sounds ominous. I feel like I’m in trouble!!

“hey looks (they were drunk) - I’m in my convertible Ferrari!”

They were heading toward the city centre at dusk with no lights on their carriages - they’re gonna be in trouble!

operation-fat-loss asked: Did you steal the golden car?

I’m too polite and said operation-weight-loss told me I could take the car…

They weren’t having any of it.

Photo 24 May 4 notes The importance of good footwear.

As I have well documented, my knee has been screaming at me for nearly a month. Regardless. I still ran a 10K on Sunday.

I iced my knee and have made one change, I now wear my Nike’s to work. It hurt at first - but now, I am completely back to normal. I can run, hop, skip and jump.

I made the switch after seeing Bens shoes - barely any wear and tear and neutral pronation.

I do not have neutral pronation and my daily walk to and from work has caused the damaged. I only wear them in the office and my knee is back to how it was.

Wear adequate footwear at all times. You’re causing damage that you dont even know about!
